How long does it take
in the morning
for you
to look in your mirror
and tell yourself:

Yes. This is who I am today.

For me,
it takes five minutes
more than I plan
and ten minutes longer
than I would ever admit.

Time management
is something I do well
in a work setting,
but
personal time management
should be a separate skill.

It isn’t that I don’t know
how long it takes to
get out of bed in the morning
put on some clothing
do my daily hygienics
maybe add some makeup
maybe eat something
open my blinds
feed my fish
find my purse
lock my door
walk to my car
drive to work
and pretend it’s all okay.

It’s that first step.
Making the decision to start the process.
